Story
If you’re not a currently serving or ex-serving member of the Armed Forces, or have another connection of some kind to the Military, then you will probably know The Royal British Legion because of Remembrance Sunday and the annual poppy appeal.
But the RBL does so much more. It is always hard at work, day in day out all year round, helping members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families when they need it most. From support with care and independent living for the more elderly veterans, through to mental and physical wellbeing via centres providing specialist injury rehabilitation and recovery, crisis support, alcohol support, housing and financial guidance, the RBL is committed to ensuring our country’s Armed Forces community can access the help they need.
As a British Army veteran from a long military lineage, this is a charity that is close to home - I have family, friends and ex-colleagues who have all received crucial support from them in the past, so I know first hand the true value.
The service they provide can be a lifeline for many serving Armed Force personnel, veterans and their families, but the RBL needs support to help them provide it.
So on Sunday 8th September, I am running my 6th Great North Run in a row, and I am supporting the Royal British legion. Any amount you can spare will help make a difference.
Thank you :)
