Story

It’s no secret that I like a good run but this one is a bit mad. It's like no other I’ve done before, and it’ll test both my physical and mental resilience to the absolute full.

It’s called ‘The Fellsman’ – look it up... https://fellsman.org.uk/

We’re talking…

• Yorkshire 3 Peaks territory – but the remote and rugged fells and moorland that no one goes on – other than the odd werewolf!

• 61 miles, with 25 checkpoints and no defined route or path

• Close to 12,000 ft of elevation – for context Ben Nevis is 4,400ft!

• All in one go – in a single 24 hour period – no sleep involved!

There’s no phone signal. This requires full navigational skills and planning with the good old map and compass. I'm hoping I’ve planned the best route, which avoids those bogs where you can sink to your waist with little warning!

And this is at the end of April. The last third, at least, will be in darkness just to test those navigational skills to the absolute limit!

And yes, I’m doing this for fun, but I’m also dedicating this challenge to Brain Tumour Research – DM’s charity of 2025. The stats are terrifying and your support is crucial:

• 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year

• Brain tumours continue to kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer

• Yet Brain Tumour Research represents just 1.3% of national spend on cancer

Clearly a lot more support is needed and so this is my plea to you to be as generous as you can to play your part – to help those families affected by this devastating disease, and to keep me motivated in my madness!

Thanks very much.
