Story
Hello! My name is Andres Rivero and I live in Bristol, UK. I am running the London Marathon 2024 on behalf of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). Thank you for visiting my fundraising website!
Why am I doing it?
1) I love long distance running; 2) I have never run for charity, and I wanted to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone - even better to do so for a cause I care deeply about; 3) It has been my dream for a long time to run the London marathon.
Why fundraising?
I have a condition in my corneas called Keratoconus, which makes my vision distorted. I can only read using my right eye, my left eye just contributes to my peripheric vision. Luckily, my condition is stable after two surgeries and countless hours of treatment at the NHS Bristol Eye Hospital. I am now capable of working, reading, driving and running without any assistance.
Unfortunately, many other patients don't enjoy the privilege of a stable eye condition, and they end up partially sighted or fully blind.
I am honoured to be part of the team that will run for RNIB and raise funds so they can continue doing their invaluable work. Anything you can contribute to my profile will be greatly appreciated, and note I don’t take your support lightly. I will take my training seriously and run on the 21st of April 2024 knowing I am backed by wonderful people.
