Story
Anyone who knows me well enough knows I have a tendency to do slightly daft things in my life, so this will be my next (and being honest, quite frightening!) challenge.
Why am I doing it if I'm frightened you may ask?! Firstly, to raise money for an incredibly worthwhile charity; I have worked for nearly 20 years at KBR during which time I have mostly supported MoD contracts, including spending nearly two years deployed in Afghanistan, and I work with a lot current and former military personnel so it's something that is quite personal & close to my heart.
Secondly, because as the saying goes, "If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough" (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf)! I've been through a difficult time in my life recently, so as well as supporting a fantastic charity, this is also a way personally for me to challenge myself in moving forward.
The RAF Association is the charity that supports the RAF community and for over 90 years, have championed a simple belief that no member of the RAF community should ever be left without the help that they need
The Associations vision is An RAF community that is connected, empowered and resilient.
Our approach to achieving this vision is to:
- Help our RAF community overcome the challenges of everyday life by increasing resilience and wellbeing.
- Empower our community by giving them the tools they need to live dignified, fulfilled and independent lives.
- Support all generations to sustain strong relationships and remain connected with the Royal Air Force.
- Recognise the unique contribution made by those of all nations who serve and have served in the Royal Air Force.
Funds raised from the Wingwalking Challenge will support the many welfare projects funded by the RAF Association to help the RAF community.
