Coastal Crawl is a sponsored 6k walk along the beautiful north east coastline supporting Maggie's Newcastle.

Almost everything – their building, gardens, weekly programme and team of experts is funded by the local community. Every pound really does make a difference.

The Maggie’s Newcastle team and the wonderful women I’ve met from the group sessions have been a huge support to me over the past 4yrs.

This year we sadly lost a very dear friend, Helen Dunn, who did the walk with us last year. Helen was the only person who was walking along the same cancer path as me and at the same time too so we understood each other’s needs so well.

We were diagnosed with our primary cancer over 4yrs ago and met at our first Maggie’s group session with four other wonderful women known as the ‘Lockdown Lovelies’! Helen and I were then diagnosed with secondary cancer only months apart. Her lovely family cared for her until she past away in January this year.

The Lockdown Lovelies and women from our secondary cancer group will be walking in honour of Helen on Friday.

The company my husband works for (NEL Fund Managers) will kindly match every penny of sponsorship made, up to £500.
