Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As a group of friends and colleagues from across the Diocese of Galloway we are taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in memory of our wonderful friend Fr Martin Chambers who inspired us all to love and help those less fortunate than ourselves.

The Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust was set up in 2006 to support the lives of those who live in the poorest conditions in Ecuador. It was started up to support the work of Fr. Martin while he worked on the missions in Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil from 2004-2009.

When Fr. Martin returned to Scotland in 2009, the work of the Trust continued. It supports the poorest people in various parts of Ecuador: in feeding programmes; in supporting educational projects; and in giving the people there a helping hand as they set up their community amongst the poorest conditions.

As long as poverty, injustice & inequality persist, none of us can truly rest. It doesn’t take much to change a life.

From Andrea:

I was lucky enough to have been a friend of Father Martin since joining Mount Carmel Primary. He was a truly inspirational man in the way that he supported our children to develop their faith. He also taught me to believe in myself and embody the view ‘Let your Light Shine’.

This is for him. Thank you for being my friend.
