Story
When our son Archie was born my wife Claire was only able to breast feed him for two weeks before she needed to start chemotherapy. For obvious reasons her breast milk would no longer be safe for Archie to drink once she started her treatment. We were both pretty sad that Archie would miss out on breast milk at such a young age. I contacted the Herts Milk Bank and they were an amazing source of both practical and emotional support. They organised enough donor breast milk to fill our freezer and make sure Archie had a purely breast milk diet for the first few months of his life and he was a hungry boy. They also got the nicest guy you could ever meet named Dave to deliver it directly to our door. Dave sadly died recently and I will also be doing this run to honour all the voluntary work Dave did for the Herts Milk Bank.
They really are an amazing charity who support so many families who either have very sick babies or mothers suffering from physically or mental stress who cannot breastfeed. They make sure the milk is safe and take all the stress out of organising the logistics of getting the milk to where it is needed.
Lots of people fundraise for cancer (and rightly so) but not so many people fundraise for the Herts Milk Bank and it desperately needs funds to keep going. So please help in anyway you can.
