Story
Hello,
I am Amy, 22 and from Cleveleys. I have decided to use my Miss Lancashire title usefully and help give back to my community and hometown to make a difference. I am going into Miss England finals in May and I feel if I can change/support 1 person's life, I will be over the moon and feel as if I have the qualities to do so. This charity holds a place in my heart, as they support people who are homeless or need emergency support between the ages of 16-25.
Ages as young as 16 years of age. A child. It truly breaks my heart to know that there are 16 years olds without a place to stay, or without support.
This charity gives the basic necessities in life such as warmth, food, water and shelter. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the UK without important things, which EVERYONE should be entitled to as a minimum. If I can raise as much money as I can to change at least 1 person's life, I will be over the moon.
Blackpool is the second most deprived area in the UK with the IMD rank of 2,3 and 4 and reports a high statistic of poverty and homelessness.
I truly truly believe that everyone should have the right to a warm bed, warm food, warm water to shower, and certainty of a place to stay.
Homelessness can be stemmed from family issues, alcohol, drugs, abuse and lack of education... and I am someone that had to give up alcohol over a year ago from it nearly ruining my life. It ruined relationships, friendships, and my family. I amazingly had the best support network and had the best support, but I have seen it ruin lives in front of my eyes ! I truly feel for these people as they don't have the support around them to stop. I have been on a bad journey with alcohol too.
I will be running 50 miles in 28 days to raise money for this amazing charity that has over 35 dedicated volunteers that help out for this cause.
Any money donated will be truly appreciated and will be going to a great charity.
