Story
Last year I applied for the London Marathon for 2025.
By chance I managed to bag myself a ballot spot.
The last few months have been gruelling training for the London Marathon 2025.
It has taken a long time to decide whether I would run for a charity but I have made the decision to run to raise money for Flint House Police Rehabilitation Centre.
I attended the centre back in 2023 for an injury I sustained on duty as a Police Officer.
Before attending here I knew nothing about it but gave it a try to see if they were able to help.
This place has so much to offer and is run from donations made by serving police officers, Police community support officers and retired officers.
They don't just offer help for physical injuries whether sustained on or off duty but they also offer mental health support.
In the current climate of policing Mental Health is a strong and very sensitive subject and unfortunately because of this several officers have taken their own lives.
Flint House offer a lot of help and assistance for Mental Health and the awareness of this needs to be spread
Mental affects everyone in policing from family, friends and the wider policing family to the struggles officers may be facing on a daily basis.
I would like to raise the awareness of what flint house has to offer in the hope that the word is spread that there is help for officers.
The Charity’s vision is to deliver world class preventative and rehabilitative care for people in the police service. Supporting people to lead healthy lives, build resilient careers and enjoy retirement. At Flint House we put people at the heart of what we do; and provide care, support and compassion. We always strive for excellence and continuous improvement.
