Thank you for visiting my page.
I’m supporting Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
In January 2018, my father died less than a year after being diagnosed with a high grade soft tissue sarcoma in his thigh which was initially thought to be a haematoma. He had always been a fit and healthy person and had been - as many of you know - a big member of the community and advocate of supporting many causes. He had been instrumental in increasing the spending in Birmingham for cycling by multiple millions of pounds. It was horrendous to see how the disease killed him, and the pain that he suffered towards the end of his life.
But it’s not just for my wonderful Dad - who I miss so much each day- that I am attempting to run this half marathon. As a vet, I do not uncommonly see all forms of sarcomas in animals of all species. I see the heartbreak these tumours can cause as our furry companions succumb to these cancers. Anything that we can do to raise money to further research and advancements in the treatment or prevention of these tumours can only be a good thing. If you are able to donate any money towards this wonderful cause, I will be so grateful. In the meantime I’d better start some training because it’s been a very long time since I put my running shoes on!
Thank you so much for your support.
