The VolunYEARS Challenge
Campaign by Project Trust (RCN SC025668)
Celebrating 56 years of Blood, Sweat, and VolunTEARS

Story

I'm taking on the VolunYEARS challenge to ensure we have many more years of volunteers!

I’ll be running 80km in 8 days during Volunteers Week. I'm pretty out of practice on the old running front so running 10km a day for 8 days won't be easy.

Project Trust is a charity that empowers young people to make a positive impact on the world. By undertaking an international volunteering placement with Project Trust volunteers have the opportunity to share their skills with their local community and benefit from immersing themselves in a new culture.

I feel privileged to have had this experience and that I now get to see the impact a Project Trust placement has on volunteers and their community in my current role within the charity.

I am fundraising for them because, without our support, this amazing organisation may not survive the aftermath of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.

Project Trust needs YOUR help so we can continue to provide young people with the opportunity to make a difference!

Project Trust is a Scottish-registered educational charity providing young people in the UK and Europe with international volunteering experiences. Project Trust Volunteers are based in projects in Africa, Asia or Latin America for 12 or 8 months supporting teaching or youth development work. Empowering global citizens Project Trust’s aim is to empower generations of young people to act as responsible and active global citizens. We support ethical, long-term volunteering experiences which enable the Volunteers to make a meaningful contribution to their host community whilst building knowledge, skills and cultural intelligence. Project Trust works with a small group of Volunteers each year, allowing the staff team to know each individual’s skills and interests. This allows us to place Volunteers in projects where they can get the most out of the experience and enables our staff to provide tailored support to each young person. Project Trust strives to be open to all young people with the desire, motivation and aptitude required to benefit from a long-term, ethical, volunteering placement
