Story
This year, rather dauntingly, I've decided to run the London marathon... motivated by wanting to raise some money, a big birthday looming and showing my two girls that Mums can run marathons too!
I wouldn't describe myself as a 'runner'. I've run a couple of half marathons in the past, but since then have quite happily fallen out of regular running... until last September where I dug out my trainers and started to train for this. Some runs have been great, others have been totally miserable and I'm sure there's worse to come! Running in the pouring rain for 90 mins on Christmas Eve whilst everyone else watched movies was a definite low... But, I'm super excited to be doing it and particularly for such a worthwhile cause.
Street Child are an incredible international charity that work with local partner organisations to ensure that every child has access to an education. Their priority is low resource environments and emergency situations. In the last year they have worked in Morocco and Libya in the aftermath of the earthquake and floods; Afghanistan, Turkey and Syria after devastating earthquakes and in Ukraine with the ongoing conflict.
They seek out situations where there are gaps between aid, assistance and need and, as such, are often one of the only organisations supporting children in these tough circumstances. They prioritise children in the most marginalised populations and currently work in over 22 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button.
