Story

Our beautiful daughter Halle was born on the 2nd September 2023. We spent the first month of Halle’s life in NNU, during which, Halle was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect of a complete AVSD. We were told Halle would go into heart failure very soon and would need to undergo open heart surgery within the first few months of her life. In February this year, Halle underwent her surgery of a AVSD dual patch repair at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Although the surgery went well, Halle ended up with a severe leak of the left AV valve, which we help maintain with daily medication.
Halle’s heart defect went undetected throughout my pregnancy and as you can imagine, was very much a shock to us all. Our brave little heart warrior has overcome so much in her short life already and we are beyond proud of her and the determination she has everyday.
To help raise awareness and for the many babies that also go undetected and to all of the strong families that are going through the same thing as we did, I will be taking part in a Christmas Skydive on behalf of the incredible Tiny Tickers Charity who help the early detection of serious heart defects in babies and support the families of our tiny heart warriors!
To help aid me in achieving this, your support and kind donations, however big or small will be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
Love, Amie x
