Where it all began... I started horse riding at the age of 7 at my local riding school, I volunteered here for many years into my early teens. I later trained to become a riding instructor - doing so allowed me to pass on my knowledge to younger people with the same passion, as well as adults! Alongside this I ran weekend clubs for people just as ‘horse mad’ as me to come and learn all that there is to know when caring for an equine, by explaining the importance for welfare standards.

To continue expanding my knowledge I completed an Equine Care course at my local college and later moved to Nottingham Trent University to study a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Equine Behaviour, Health and Welfare. Doing so broadened my understanding on the emerging issues and ethics that are faced today within the equine industry. On top of this, developing an awareness of human-animal interactions and the cognitive and learning process of horses that go alongside this. All together combining many of the important aspects that support the understanding of equine welfare as a whole.

Currently, I work in a mixed veterinary practice, including horses and farm animals, local to my hometown. Doing so allows me to support the amazing vets that provide outstanding care for the animals we care so much for. In my spare time I enjoy riding my friends horses, walking my two crazy cockapoos out in the Yorkshire dales and keeping fit through running regularly.

I am a very self motivated person and enjoy supporting areas in which my passion is held. This brings me to why I have chosen to run the London marathon 2025 in support of World Horse Welfare. The work they do is incredible, helping in many different ways through their advice, research, campaigns and taking action in situations when horses are frightened, abused or neglected.
