Story

June 2023 was a huge personal milestone 20 years after losing my Dad to suicide in 2003 at the age of 15. I have decided to do something positive in his memory to challenge myself physically and mentally, in doing so fundraising to give something back to MIND, who are a leading Mental Health Charity, supporting so many people.

On 16th July I will be hiking 8 miles, across 6 hours climbing 2,372ft along the Miners Track to the summit of Snowdon and 11 of my colleagues at Selfridges Birmingham will be walking with me to raise money for MIND.

Losing my Dad in this way, was a complete shock! 20 years ago, mental health and suicide sadly, was a very taboo subject. We didn't live in a world where mental health was freely spoken about nor did we have enough awareness on how to identify the signs that someone needs help. I've spent the last 20 years thinking 'if only I had known how to be there for him, life could be very different.'

I’m a big believer that this has no doubt, shaped who I have grown up to be and driven me to break the stigma around talking about mental health.

Today, we have the opportunity and power to shape the future, invest in our own mental health daily as well and supporting others which is why I would like to raise money for MIND.
