Ysbyty Gwynedd has been there for my family through several emergencies: from supporting my mum during her battle with cancer and my dad through several heart attacks, to helping my husband walk again after a fall down the stairs left him with a double fracture and a completely dislocated ankle. The hospital also cared for my young grandson, referring him to Alder Hey for life-saving bowel treatment when he was only a few weeks old. When he was admitted on Christmas Eve struggling to breathe, the remarkable staff did far more than provide expert medical care: they brought a little Christmas magic to his bedside, making sure Father Christmas visited him and giving my daughter and her partner a precious moment of joy in the middle of a frightening time. It was a beautiful example of the kindness, dedication and humanity that make Ysbyty Gwynedd so special. They have continued to care for him with the same compassion during several further admissions to the children’s ward when he has struggled to breathe.
