Story
Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre is committed to ensuring no woman or girl subjected to sexual violence has to cope alone.
some of you may know my story as I have fundraised for the CRCC before, some of you may not.
Right now, they are supporting hundreds of survivors of sexual violence, including myself, whose support needs have hugely intensified due to the additional strains brought about as a result of the pandemic, cost-of-living crisis and collapse of the Criminal Justice System.
Their life-saving and life-changing services are essential for these women and girls as they struggle to maintain their well-being and capacity to cope during these difficult times. The CRCC allowed me to have access to free therapy for 6 months and provided me with a sexual violence advocate who has changed my life. After my sexual assault my confidence dropped majorly, my ISVA has brought so much support which meant that my confidence is growing again. I could go back to work, study at college and even take part in this event. Unfortunately after a very long 2 years, my case was NFA’d during December due to a lack of evidence and a fail in the UK’s justice system. I decided for my own mental wellbeing and for my loved ones around me that I would not appeal my case and use the advice, knowledge and support that the CRCC, my mum and my friends and family have provided me with to power on and not let SA stop me from doing anything.
To show my support to the CRCC and give back to them, we want to help them ensure they can be there for survivors both now and in the future, myself and Jakob are taking on the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on the 9th March, I am certain Jakob will do most of the running. If you know me, I do not run but I will try my best😂
Any and all donations to support myself and Jakob in our challenge will make a huge difference in enabling them to ensure no woman or girl has to cope alone with impacts of sexual violence and abuse.
Please visit the CRCC website if you feel like you need support against a SA or for more details on how you can help people like myself and their families.
