Story
The state of youth homelessness is a UK wide concern. To think so many young people find themselves on the street with no support - at a time when they should be afforded the basic need of building their resilience for a wonderful life is heart breaking.
Roundabout is South Yorkshire's youth homeless charity. Everyday we provide shelter, and support to over 350 young people in Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
I have been supporting Roundabout for a few years now and earlier in the year I was contacted about taking a place in the yearly Serpentine swim to raise money for charity. I love outdoor swimming so I jumped at the chance.
My ask from you therefore is to donate generously to this charity in sponsorship of me in my mile swim but more importantly to make a difference to some young lives in the South Yorkshire region.
Your donations will help to provide a safe place for young people and help us to provide support and life skills to help break the cycle of homelessness.
Your support will go a long way to changing the lives of the most vulnerable young people in South Yorkshire. Our work is a lifeline for many and supports the young people we work with to prepare for a better future.
From £5 which could buy bedding for a young person when they first move into our hostel or their own flat, to £5,000 which will house a young person for a full year. Every donation makes a difference to the lives of young homeless people across South Yorkshire.
My swimming training is coming along nicely - mainly through joining my youngest Rory in his swimming training with Sheffield Tri Club.
Thank you for your donations.
