Story
Mayson is taking part in the Muddy Mayhem challenge this year on the 24th March in memory of our darling Auntie Didi 🤍
Didi was the life and soul of everything. She was the biggest shopping enthusiast you could have ever met, any bargain or offer she would know about and she would hunt every shop in order to find the cheapest deal. She would travel everywhere to find your favourite chocolate bar for you; Her house was like a sweet shop and whenever you went there, she would force you out into the shed to help yourself to sweets or chocolate.
Mid 2022, Didi was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cervical Cancer and we were all devastated. Our worlds had been turned upside down. Didi’s condition deteriorated dramatically in such a short space of time and she was in so much pain, that the doctors suggested she would benefit from being admitted to the Letchworth In-patient unit. We were all scared as this meant ‘the end’ but as soon as she arrived, she felt at ease.
The services provided by The Garden House Hospice were faultless. It felt like they went to the ends of the earth to make sure not only Didi’s needs were catered for but ours as a family too. They would set out beds so her sons could sleep overnight with their mum, they’d make us tea or coffee at any given moment, nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff.
Sadly, our darling Didi died the 9th of June 2022 🤍
Fundraising events like Muddy Mayhem go a long way to help Garden House Hospice care raise the money they need to be able to continue to provide our free palliative care to the North Herts community. They need to raise over £9,700 every day to fund their care - because of the rising costs of living, this is £2,000 more per day than 2 years ago. Every penny raised through sponsorship really will help go towards their vital services used by so many families.
Thank you for supporting Mayson and donating for Garden House Hospice.
