I'm running for #TeamGeorge's

This is why….
Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness in all voluntary muscles. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis at the age of 12, after a long and challenging journey of five months to receive the right diagnosis and treatment. The dedicated team at St. George's Hospital provided me with the care I desperately needed, helping to improve my severe muscle weakness.
During my first year post-diagnosis, I faced multiple visits to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) due to Myasthenic Crises, where severe muscle weakness can lead to respiratory failure. Each time, I was met with exceptional care from the PICU staff who made my experience more comfortable for both me and my family. My parents found solace in a 'parents room' nearby, where they could take a moment for themselves while connecting with others facing similar challenges.
I also underwent several treatments of Plasma Exchange, an incredible procedure that significantly improved my symptoms. The Apheresis team at St. George's went above and beyond by providing this treatment locally instead of sending me to another hospital, making me their first paediatric plasma exchange patient. Their commitment exemplifies the extraordinary care I received throughout my journey.
Now at 19 years old, I continue to benefit from the outstanding support of the Neurology team at St. George's Hospital. To show gratitude for their unwavering dedication, my Auntie Amanda (AJ) will be participating in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday April 6th, 2025, aiming to raise £1000 for this remarkable hospital that has cared for me so well.
I invite you to join us in supporting this cause by contributing to our fundraising efforts. Your generosity will help ensure that others receive the same exceptional care that has made such a difference in my life.
