Story
As I lace up my trainers and prepare to tackle the challenge of a half marathon, I am reminded of the incredible strength and determination that defined my dad's life as a professional athlete. His passion for sports was unmatched, and his relentless drive to succeed inspired all who knew him. However, his journey was cut short by the cruel grip of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a ruthless opponent that ultimately claimed his life.
In memory of my dad and in solidarity with all those affected by MND, I am dedicating this half marathon to raising awareness and funds for research, support, and advocacy efforts aimed at combating this devastating disease. MND stripped my dad of his athletic abilities and robbed him of the active lifestyle he loved.
I will carry the memories of my dad's strength and perseverance as I run my first half marathon. This race is not just a physical challenge; it is a tribute to his life and all those that have been exposed to this horrific disease.
I hope to honor my dad's memory and make a meaningful impact in the fight against MND. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to improving the lives of those living with this debilitating condition. Thank you for your support as I embark on this journey, one stride at a time, in memory of my dad. Stephen Hardwick - MBE
