Story
I only took up running in 2020 before that I would have never described myself as a runner – in fact anything ‘sporty’ I felt was just not for me!
I was inspired by my daughters who had done the couch to 5k and a work colleague who had run the London Marathon in 2018. They encouraged me to ‘give it a go’ and when I saw a poster for the Tiverton Women’s running group – beginners course, I thought what have I got to lose? If I can just run 5k that would be such a wonderful achievement for someone who has never run anywhere for anything before. I completed the course and ran 5k and felt amazing! I was ecstatic, like in that scene when Rocky reaches the top of the steps after his epic training run!
I have been running regularly with the women’s group, slowly building up my stamina, confidence and distance. I am now taking on the challenge of the Great West run in Exeter and would love your support.
All the donations will go to DRCSAS to help them continue the amazing work they do for people in Devon.
Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services wants to be in the strongest position possible to carry on supporting those who have been affected by sexual violence, and we want to expand our services to reach more people who need us. Recovering from trauma is tough but we know our work makes a huge difference.
Every pound you donate will help us maintain and develop services across Devon and Torbay for anyone over 13 who has suffered the trauma of sexual violence at any time in their lives, and their families.
Thank you for your support.
