Story
In a few short weeks, together with 23 other intrepid explorers, I will be setting out for 3 days of hiking on remote mountain trails in the Fiz Massif mountain range, adjoining Mont Blanc in the French Alps. We will be hiking to altitudes of over 2300m (almost double the height of Ben Nevis), carrying all our own equipment, and sleeping in remote mountain refuges.
I'm doing this to raise much needed funds for St George's School in Ethiopia. In recent months due to the influx of refugees from Sudan, there has been civil unrest, and intermittent local lockdowns due to military interventions to protect the Gondar region (where St George's is located). In order to get food supplies in such difficult times, they really need your help. All of your donations will go directly to the school, providing the children with:
- A completely free education
- Two nutritious meals a day
- All educational resources
- Healthcare and development checks
- School uniform
- Transport to and from the school
Now in its 2nd year, the Alpine Challenge is one of St Georges biggest fundraisers. This year, the school needs the funds more than ever. Rising inflation and food costs in Ethiopia have increased 500% -700%, and are having a dramatic impact on St George's and the support needed to help these children.
Thank you for supporting me in this challenge, for this incredible cause! It means the world to me, but even more to the children of St George’s and their families.
