Story

Thanks for being here!

I am volunteering this summer at a day camp run by The Wendt Center called Camp Forget-Me-Not, a camp for kids whose parent, caregiver or sibling has died. Our campers will enjoy traditional camp activities with interwoven grief-focused workshops to help them explore a variety of ways to express themselves and develop healthy coping skills. To say that being a volunteer for these kids is a huge honor just scratches the surface of why I am doing this, as I was that little kid once, too, when my mom died from cancer when I was 9 years old. These kids and their families need this community and outlet, and I personally want to do everything I can to make it an impact & awesome experience for them as much as I can.

With that, The Wendt Center does not charge the families for camp, because they understandably don't want financial strain to be the only reason these kids don't have the ability to participate -- so I am calling on my people to join me in raising some money to keep this camp full of resources & materials!

My mom, Stevi Banks Swain, died on July 3rd, 1997, so I am aiming to donate a goal of at least $7,397 in her honor.
