Allianz are extremely proud and excited to be partnering with Barnardo’s, the UK's largest children’s charity, who support thousands of young people and their families.
Barnardo’s has ambitious plans to support 750,000 young people by 2025, and we are looking forward to aiding in this mission through our partnership.
As part of our fundraising efforts we are taking on the below challenge and would be grateful for your support.
Lake District Mountain Challenge
Raising funds for Barnardo's
About the event:
The Lake District Mountain Challenge is a hiking challenge event starting and finishing in Elterwater Village, Lake District. The aim is to hike up a number of Lakeland hill tops on an 8 mile route, but on this event the group has to navigate their own route! Each team is also allocated a Mountain Leader who can assist the group if needs be. The Mountain Leader would be responsible for the groups safety on the mountain. If some in the group are unable to do the full route, there is an option to shorten the route if required.
About the route:
The route will take in a number of the lower Lakeland peaks including Silver Howe, Raw Pike and Castle How, among a few others. Whilst it doesn’t go to the highest peaks, it is still very much a mountain environment so it is important to have the correct kit. The views from this area are amazing, so subject to weather conditions it should be a fabulous day. So long as participants have a reasonable basic level of fitness, they should be able to complete the route. We recommend all participants do some training for the event, relative to their fitness levels.
Start & Finish Point:
Elterwater National Trust Car Park, Elterwater, LA22 9HU.
Distance: 15km, 8 miles. The route can be shortened if needed
Total ascent 750m, 2460ft. This is slightly less than a hike up and down Helvellyn. Duration; Approx 6-7 hours
