Our team of 70 runners are taking on the ultimate challenge in Cambridge in March. They are pounding the pavements to support children with brain tumours and their families.

Around 500 children and young people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year, that's around 10 a week. Many will experience serious mental health issues as a result of their tumour and 62% of those who survive will then live with life-long disabilities.

Supporting one child and their family costs over £3300 per year. The money raised by our incredible runners taking part in the Cambridge Half will support many more families.

Every mile they run, every pound you donate will be helping us to support another child and enable us to change these young people's lives.

Also running the Cambridge half marathon is my sister Kate. We are both running in memory of our mother, Shirley, as well as raising funds for Toms Trust who support children and their families with brain tumours.

Our mother passed away in March 2024 after a relatively short illness at the age of 89. She had a glioma type brain tumour which caused a range of symptons and culminated in her admission to hospital on Christmas Day 2024. I have also known other people who have been affected by brain tumours and seen the terrible impact it can have on them and their families. So running to raise funds for Toms Trust is an absolutely appropriate thing to do for me and Kate to help them advance the support they can provide to children and their families. We hope to raise a collective £1500 between us which should go a long way to supporting the good resource that Toms Trust provides.
