Mount Mulanje Climb 2025 · 21 June 2025 to 23 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
In June 2025, I am joining a small group to embark on a challenging 3 day climb of Mount Mulanje in Malawi to reach Sapitwa Peak. Translated as the 'unreachable peak', the 3002m summit is the highest point in South-Central Africa.
Southern Africa has a special place in my heart, and Malawi, like many other countries in the region, is a beautiful place with wonderful people. It is also, however, one of the poorest countries in the world.
I am taking on this challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for Open Arms Malawi, a charity that supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Malawi. I will be doing the trip to celebrate a 'significant' birthday and it is entirely self funded. Any donation you are able to make will go to Open Arms Malawi.
With the help of Open Arms, babies can stay in the care of their families. The Malawian led team provides families with formula milk, nutrition, baby essentials, and access to medical care - along with ongoing advice and support to make sure the baby continues to thrive. Open Arms is not just providing hand outs, though - through agriculture and business support, the families are empowered into self-sufficiency, giving them and their child a brighter future. In addition, Open Arms provides short term infant care when needed and supports nine nursery schools, providing early years education and a daily meal to over 600 children.
To continue these services and to extend them to more babies and families in desperate need, Open Arms Malawi needs our support. Your donation will go a long way in helping these children not only survive but thrive within their families.
