Story

My name is Dr Alison Brind and I have been treating liver disease locally for 25 years.

Loss of health has stopped this work for me but I want others to have tools to continue. I wish to inspire others to enjoy their health and look after their liver whilst raising funds for my Liver Appeal with UHNM Charity.

Liver disease accounts for a third of premature deaths in the UK with 40 people dying per day. Ninety percent of liver disease is preventable, but seventy-five percent of people affected are unware.

Most liver disease is caused by progression in fatty liver, a condition caused by too much alcohol and obesity.

Liver disease is also prevented by getting the highly effective treatment to individuals with hepatitis and lifestyle changes to reduce alcohol intake, eat healthy and exercise healthy to maintain a normal weight.

I have done lot in 2023 to raise money for Liver Disease in UHNM to support a bursary for healthcare professional to gain skills in compassion to help help those with addiction leading to liver disease and buy a scanner to give instant feedback on individuals on their liver health. I wish to continue this effort.

I have been given great support by UHNM Charity in this effort. I had a parkrun, participated in the Potter's Arf and received a life time achievement award for UHNM. I wish to do more fund raising for UHNM and raise more for my Liver Services and also the Cancer Centre who have been so supportive to me.

I have got together a book of my exploits running, walking, cycling and skiing over the years all over the world to share my enjoyment. I continue with some exploits to inspire others with cancer to Never Stop and enjoy.

I suggest a minimum £10 donation for the book
