Story
II will be walking 10,000 steps every day in February and completing the Glasgow Mighty Stride Kiltwalk to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. This is a charity close to my heart and I would love to give back something. I would love for the support during this time and I will be sharing each day my steps and how I achieved them! Many of you might already know my story and why this is so close to me but if you don’t here it is:
My Mum was first diagnosed in May 2010 with what is called a Cranial Phenyngioma in her brain. She had her first operation on the 6th of June that year. She was in theatre for seven and a half hours, the longest wait of our lives!
Since the first operation she then had several setbacks leading to another 10 operations between then and September 2010, followed by six weeks of Radiotherapy and due to this she lost all her hair. By the following year 2011 she was showing signs of memory loss but we thought that was a small price to pay due to having 11 operations.
But then in 2012, a downfall happened, the double shunt the doctors put in her head stopped working which led to her having another six operations to try and fix this issue.
Since then it has left my mum with lots of serious health matters (including 2 types of diabetes) as her pituitary gland was removed. My mum now has no short term memory at all and gets very confused on a daily basis due to this. She is a changed woman because of the horrible illness but we wouldn’t change her for the world!
Please support Brian Tumour Research and sponsor me during this time💛!
