As the UK's leading veterinary charity with 49 Pet Hospitals, PDSA improves pet’s lives through prevention, education and treatment.
I started working at PDSA in 2021 and over the years my eyes have been opened to the amazing work that the charity and team members do each and every day to help both people and pets across the country.
Since working with them, I’ve had the opportunity to visit Pet Hospitals and charity shops, meeting our veterinary teams, clients, shop staff, volunteers and supporters. Seeing the caring nature and the love that everyone shares towards helping poorly pets is something that inspires me and I’m so happy to be able to run the London Marathon in 2025 as part of Team PDSA.
Being on the social media team, I see the inquiries that we get every day, from people explaining their difficult situations and asking about how we can help them in their time of need. And when they often have nowhere else to turn, it reminds me how important the work we do at PDSA is.
In my role, I also get the lovely task of writing our pet patient stories weekly, that get shared across social media, talking about how our veterinary teams have saved pets lives, giving a happy ending for both them and their owners. Hearing clients’ stories, both happy and heart-breaking, always brings me so much admiration for the work PDSA does and the services offered and how we support people when they need it most.
For the last two London Marathons, I have worked on using our PDSA social media channels to encourage people to sign up to run as part of Team PDSA, written up social media stories to share the wonderful reasons why our amazing runners have ran for us previously, attended the London Marathon to cheer runners on - And after starting to get into running myself last year (after being inspired by the 2023 London Marathon!), I decided I wanted to challenge myself to do it! And to have the opportunity to do it for the organisation that I’m so proud to work for, is an honour!
