LHC- Fundraising for Alice’s Bed

Hazel Mycock is raising money for University Hospitals of North Midlands Charity

LHC Fundraising · 8 September 2024

We fund equipment, facilities and research to enhance the care of patients in hospital

Story

Alice is 7 years old. “When she was a week old we noticed her doing unusual movements. These turned out to be epileptic seizures. After lots of hospital visits and at the age of 2, Alice was diagnosed with CDKL5 which is a chromosome deletion, she also has a developmental delay. She is unable to talk, walk or communicate. She has medication to try and control her seizures however it is very hard, this year in particular we have had lots of hospital admissions due to her seizures.

This in turn has lead us to notice a lack in suitable beds for children such as Alice. We would like to help fix this and raise money for a safe place for Alice and other children to be when they require treatment at UHNM.”

The money raised from the LHC Boots Run will go towards a new hospital bed at UHNM. These are specialist beds and there is currently only two available in North Staffordshire and are not regularly available.
