We're taking on the Purple Gunge Challenge to raise vital funds and awareness for the 10,000+ young people in the UK living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). As you'll see in our video, this is a cause very close to our hearts.
Our daughter, Ruby, was diagnosed with JIA in October of last year. JIA is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the joints and organs, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness. It can significantly impact a young person's mobility, and in some cases, can lead to reliance on a wheelchair. Seeing Ruby face this condition has been incredibly difficult, and we want to do everything we can to support her and other children like her.
While there's currently no cure for JIA, the funds we raise can make a real difference. They help provide essential support, information, and resources to young people with JIA and their families, empowering them to manage the condition and live full lives.
To help, we've decided to get a little messy! On Wednesday, May 28th, at Bloxham Mill, Alice and I will be going head-to-head in the Purple Gunge Challenge. The person who raises the least amount of money will get PURPLE GUNGED! We're putting ourselves through this sticky situation to show our commitment to this cause and to raise as much money as possible.
We're also encouraging everyone to wear purple on the day to show their support for JIA awareness. Join us, either in person or in spirit, as we aim to turn a messy challenge into a powerful force for good.
Your generous donations will directly support young people with JIA. Here's how your contributions can help:
£5 will provide 3 booklets to help children learn about the disease and give practical advice.
£10 will provide a 30-minute helpline call to give support at a time of crisis.
£30 will enable a one-hour facilitated meeting for a family with a recent diagnosis.
Please donate whatever you can today to support JIA and help us decide who gets gunged! Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference. Thank you for your support.
