Story
Yes THE CHURCHYARD GIRLS are back sleeping out, as in 2020, in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church, Seer Green and Jordans. The ‘24 Churchyard Girls are - Sarah Allen, Nora Bennett, Lois Henley King, Penny Oakwell and myself Ali Cork
THE WYCOMBE HOMELESS CONNECTION ‘BIG SLEEP OUT 2024’ is this very Saturday March 2nd
Why are we giving up or warm beds in our heated homes for a night outside in the cold and doubtless wet !
Primarily to raise awareness that just 20 minutes down the road there are men and women sleeping out every night. No warm homes to go to, no comfortable beds or fridges full of food. Just nothing except putting their heads down on the pavement with inadequate clothing and second rate sleeping bags.
WYCOMBE HOMELESS CONNECTION comprises a remarkable small team of paid employees and a large team of volunteers giving an enormous amount of time to making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community. Priorities are to provide short and long term shelter and attempt to prevent homeless happening to anyone. Also, in the meantime, to provide adequate food and clothing as well as to ensure that medical support and legal advice are available. All this costs money.
By sponsoring us in this ‘challenge’ , you can make a real difference.. Your support will help us fight the devastating impact of homelessness and prevent it from happening in the first place.
Thank you.
UPDATE Monday 26th February
One great big ‘THANK YOU’ to all of you who have sponsored Sarah, Nora, Lois, Penny and myself so very generously. The response to our appeal has been just amazing.
First I raised the ‘target’ from £1000 to £2000 and now we have achieved that, and more, I am now raising it again. Our new target is £2500. Can we do it ? If you have yet to sponsor us -
THE CHURCHYARD GIRLS - please help us give it a try.
Thank you
Ali
