Story
Dear friends -
On April 21, I'll be pounding the roads of London to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK. Seeing my mother slowly decline with dementia has shown me what a devastating illness it can be, and as we all live longer, it's set to affect many many more -- more research is needed to find ways to slow it down -- and one day stop it.
Since I know many of you must be bored of sponsoring me for the London Marathon every year, this year I'm throwing in a bonus 400km, 8-day ultramarathon in Scotland in May for your hard-earned sponsorship pounds. It's made all the more daunting by the fact I tried to run it (the Cape Wrath Ultra) in 2022, but failed to finish. (So please don't make your sponsorship contingent on my finishing -- I'll give it my best shot!)
Some stats about Alzheimer's from ARUK:
Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.
We are the UK's leading dementia research charity. We exist for a cure.
Your donation helps our scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
