Story
Most of you will be aware that at just age 65, our beloved Jimmy was diagnosed with mixed dementia and sadly passed away on November 11th 2023, 5 years after his diagnosis. Over these past 5 years we have seen just how cruel the disease really is and how incredibly tough it is for those closest to witness. It’s not just memory loss but witnessing the whole person change before your eyes from confusion, to needing help with every day tasks, problems with language and understanding to changes in behaviour.
Whilst there have been some incredibly sad times we have also seen the admirable dedication of all the Drs, nurses and support workers fighting to help people with this cruel disease. The biggest issue is that while all these people are doing such an incredible job there also needs to be much more research to find a cure.
Dementia is not just a disease that affects people with age there are over 42,000 people in the U.K.at age 65 years or younger suffering with this disease, young onset dementia.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.
Until the day we find a cure, they are creating a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
As a tribute to our Jimmy and in his memory we would like to ask for donations that would help contribute to the amazing work of Alzheimer’s Society. Any donation is greatly appreciated no matter how small, we are eternally grateful for all the love and support we have had during this tough time.
Love always
