Story

As James & Alec have so much spare time, they have decide to embark once again on the Challenge that is The 2024 Norfolk Superhero. Swimming, Kayaking, cycling and running all come naturally ...... to some but not us...! Any support however large or small is very much appreciated.

This year the 2024 Norfolk Superhero is supporting Burnham Overy Harbour Trust, specifically raising funds for the vital work involved in restoring the creek. This will primarily involve the restoration of the groynes which are crucial in preventing the creek from silting up, as well as taking important measures to reduce erosion of the marshes.

WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?

Burnham Overy Staithe’s salt marshes and creeks are a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to their unique biodiversity, range of ecosystems and large number of habitat specific plants.

The Superhero fundraising will fast-track this major restoration project which may otherwise take many years to complete. Without this work, the fragile ecosystems would suffer enormously. This work will secure this fragile and incredibly important landscape for the next generation.
