For 30 years patients and staff have been choosing to support Haematology Cancer Care because we help the Haematology Service deliver transformational treatment and personalised care at UCLH.

Story

In August 2018 we lost our best friend at the age of 22 after a five year battle with Leukaemia. Elias beat Leukaemia three times and was lucky enough to have state of the art, ground breaking treatment at UCLH, which is a centre of excellence for haematology cancers. This treatment enabled him to live life to the fullest, and make memories together that we will hold forever.

We started this journey in July 2019 when over 50 riders completed VAP 1 (Vegas After Party) Paris-London over 3 days, and raised £185,000 for Haematology Cancer Care. On 1st December 2021, the research project got underway into leukaemia, and specifically how the CAR-T treatment that had given us so much hope for Elias, can be improved. Every pound raised by our riders 3 years ago went directly to the charity and as well as funding the research project, we were able to buy an apheresis machine which is helping leukaemia patients right now, every day.

We went again in July 2022, 270kms from Paris to Poitiers to continue our journey in Elias' name. We took the fundraising target over the £300,000 mark, enabling a 2nd PhD student to transform treatment for leukaemia patients.

And now we are going on our Trilogy ride in July 2025. Vienna to Aigues-Mortes, 340kms along the banks of the Rhone.

This is the team page for a group of Elias' closest friends who will be cycling together - we understand that some of you may wish to support multiple participants so hope this makes it as easy as possible to support. Please do leave names of those you are supporting as everyone has individual donation targets.

We know Elias would have found it amusing to say the least watching his friends wearing Lycra and attempting to cycle through France, and we hope that we do him proud. Each of us are so humbled by your generosity and thank you for any way you can support us to continue funding research that we hope one day will stop others dying of leukaemia and help us keep alive the legacy of Elias, our hero.

Much love,

Alex, Sam, Sameer, Ishaan, Jacob, George, Jamie, Cam
