Story
As some of you may already know, myself and my cousin Aalish did a sponsored walk back in 2022 for GNAAS (Great North Air Ambulance Service). This was such an incredible experience and we are both beyond greatful for our sponsors helping us raise the money we did.
Last time we walked the millennium way which is approximately 28 miles (definitely didn’t feel like it) and it took us 10 and a half hours.
This year we plan to walk the TT course which is 37.7 miles. Just like last time we are very unprepared and are going at this challenge with almost nothing but our hiking boots and each other.
Our motivation behind these sponsored walks is our gratitude. Alexa’s dad Garry had an accident back in 2022 which resulted in him being airlifted by GNAAS. Therefore we decided to raise as much money as we could as a small thanks for saving his life.
However the charity we have chosen this time around is the Isle of Man Hospice. This is also another cause very close to us. Aalish’s dad Steven was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in late 2022. Just like he wanted, he was taken care of in The Hospice towards the end of his life and passed away peacefully in February last year.
Not only did the hospice support the whole family in every way possible, they did everything in their power to make sure Steven was as comfortable and pain-free as he could be. The work that The Hospice do for our island is outstanding and we want to be able to give something back.
We plan to start and finish at The Swan in Ramsey on the 4th August within 24 hours. We would be endlessly grateful for any donations you can contribute. Thank you so much for reading.
