Story
On Sunday 21 April, which also happens to be my birthday(!), I'll be taking part in the London Marathon, running for WaterAid. It's 11 years since I last ran a marathon, at which time I promised myself I'd never do another one, and yet here we are...
I also didn't fully think through the fact that our second child was due in late January. Training for a marathon on top of major sleep deprivation and nappy changes makes for an interesting challenge! At least our dog Bobby is enjoying the long woodland runs.
Any support is hugely appreciated and will really inspire me on the day. And most importantly it will be for a really great cause. WaterAid is an international charity that is determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere. These are basic things that should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. A child dies every 2 minutes from disease caused by dirty water. And 1.7 billion people have no decent toilet of their own.
WaterAid believes that with the basics of clean water, toilets and good hygiene, people can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
To give you an idea of what your donation might go towards: £6 can provide 12 soap bars to a household, and just £230 can build a household toilet. Let's make a difference!
