Story
Ruils is a charity local to me that supports disabled people to live independent lives. My son Alfie is severely autistic. I started working for Ruils in 2014. Now I run the SEN (Special Educational Needs) Advice service, which offers free legal guidance to the families of disabled children, to help them secure the educational provision they require.
Families are routinely given misinformation about their children’s rights; the current system is a maze, and many children are left at a terrible disadvantage. With our help they can access the legislation which will make the system take their needs fully into account.
There is a chronic shortage of free, accurate and practical advice and advocacy around SEN. Your donation will help us to reach more of the hundreds of families in Richmond whose disabled children are currently unable to access meaningful education.
I'm joining a team of 13 members of staff, volunteers and supporters who are going to take on the Three Peaks Challenge for the first time. We'll be attempting to summit Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours.
It's going to be a tough one! Please support us as generously as you can.
