Story
In July of 2023, my grandma, Wai Lan Cheung, sadly passed away after being diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier in the year. Her decline in health in her last couple of weeks with us was extremely sudden and nothing could have prepared my family for it.
My family and I were very fortunate that the team at North London Hospice stepped in and helped us navigate what was a very sad and trying time. They gave us support and advice when we needed it. Although a bedroom opened up at the hospice during my grandma’s final few days, we ultimately decided to keep her in the comfort of the home that she had lived in for the last 30+ years. We’re very thankful that the hospice was able to provide us with care and support so that we were able to do so. All the nurses took amazing care of my grandma. Through this experience, I’ve seen the importance of the work that North London Hospice does firsthand and will be running the 2024 London Marathon in memory of my grandma to raise money for North London Hospice so that it can continue to provide support to families that need it.
I'll be targeting a finish time of 3 hours 30 minutes and, for an added bit of motivation, I'll donate an extra £100 for every minute I'm over that target (up to £2k).
