Story
I have played sport all my life and know the benefits it brings to all. I have worked in education for nearly 30 years and understand that many children face disadvantages and need support. My rugby playing days are drawing to a close but I have really enjoyed running in recent years to try and stay fit.
I have represented Wooden Spoon at charity rugby events and I am now very proudly going to try and complete the London Marathon in 2024. I say 'try' out of respect for the distance. Running 26 miles is further than the human body is really designed to go but I will give it 100% for sure.
If you could donate to this fantastic cause I would be very grateful.
Thanks - Alex Burden
Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, funding life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage.
Research shows that 1 in 10 children in the UK and Ireland have a disability and there are 3.5 million children in the UK living in poverty. These numbers continue to rise and more and more children need our help.
Our vision is that through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities.
