And I would walk for 14 miles... "
... and it was hard work!! But well worth it to raise some money for CHUF - Your Move Chris Stonock's chosen charity!!
In fact, I'm really chuffed for all my colleagues who completed the walk and really thankful for all the donations we received! I'm so pleased to have exceeded my target of £250... but if anyone could help me to nudge past £300 that would be absolutely amazing!!?!
We set off from Birdoswald Fort at about 7.30am, in the murk and mist just after sunrise, and some 8 hours later we all finished the 14 mile trek (some finished sooner than others!!).
A good few of us had not expected quite so much hilly terrain, and there had to be some rests along the way, but everyone managed to make it to the end, just about in one piece!
The Hadrians Hike has given a big boost to our fundraising for the year as we help CHUF to support children - and their families - receiving treatment from the Children's Heart Unit.
CHUF’s vision is to support pioneering services that will positively impact heart families, inspire hope and enable Heart Heroes to reach their full potential.
This is achieved by supporting the children and families who receive treatment by the Children’s Heart Unit based at Freeman Hospital and the many other hospitals providing care for cardiac patients throughout the North East. We raise vital funds for large and small pieces of equipment, facilities, aftercare, salaries and research. CHUF’s charitable activities go far beyond that of providing medical equipment and personnel; the charity provides holistic care to children and their families by providing services and facilities that allow heart children to develop their skills and mature as any healthy child normally would. CHUF supports pioneering research and services that contributes to heart heroes’ ability to achieve their full potential.
