Weald to Waves
Campaign by Knepp Wildland Foundation (RCN 1190335)
This ambitious project aims to create a nationally significant 100-mile nature recovery corridor from the Ashdown Forest, via Knepp, to the kelp forests off the Sussex coast, buffered by regenerative food production and active communities.

Story

The UK is one of most naturally impoverished countries in Europe. What natural ecosystems there are exist in isolation as "islands" dotted around, and their connection is paramount for the survival and hopeful flourishing of the diversity we have and want to increase in future. Weald to Waves is all about making this happen, in collaboration with the Knepp Estate, which has been at the forefront of rewilding in Britain. They write:

"

Nature recovery corridors are essential for our landscapes to repair. Without them, we cannot forge connections for our fragmented wildlife. With your help, we are setting out to establish a nationally significant wildlife corridor, 50 miles in length, from the Ashdown Forest, via Knepp, to the kelp forests off the Sussex coast.

Buffered by regenerative food production we aim to create 10,000 hectares of largely contiguous habitat so that wildlife can travel through the landscape easily. This will be supported by fresh investment in Sussex-wide nature recovery networks, creating corridors of action between groups and projects.

From Wealden forests to kelp forests, rewilded gardens to farm hedgerows, restored rivers to wild beaches, and from butterfly banks to wildflower verges. Will you help us to bring this corridor to life?

About the charity

The Knepp Wildland Foundation was founded to galvanise nature recovery across Sussex and beyond. We use evidence, knowledge and inspiration from the pioneering work of Knepp to support rewilding at scale, with a particular focus on communities, corridors and the next generation of rewilders.
