Aleks has previously raised money for charity by singing, dancing and by donating his "lockdown" hair.

This charity drive, for Mencap has the same spirit but it is far more challenging!

This August, Aleks and team members (all school children) from Beechhall School in Macclesfield AKA "Beech Hall Mencap Marvels Channel Swim Squad" will attempt to swim the English Channel as a relay team.

The children have been through a rigorous training routine. They have done proper ice swims (not dips/plunges!!) in water where the ice layer had to be broken without wetsuits!, Endurance swim sessions to improve overall fitness in pools and lakes (even doing the Great North Swim), sea swims( to get used to jellyfish stings! Aleks was quite fond of his sting!).

All of this culminating in Aleks and the team successfully completing the qualifier in the required gear(swimming hat, a pair of goggles and a standard swim suit) for the Channel Swim by swimming 2 hours non-stop in 13.7 degree water near Dover.

For the channel swim, the team will be swimming in 1 hour slots, come day or night, rain or sunshine. They will set off from Samphire How near Dover to the coast of France.

The team have trained hard, made tremendous sacrifices and are ready for the challenge ahead!
