Chris, Aleks, Geoff and Chikere set out from St Mary’s Church Lewisham crossing the channel by ferry to Dunkirk on Friday 5th July heading to Brugge on the Saturday and arriving at St Peter’s Gent in Belgium before their Sunday mass on 7th July. It has been a great experience, both the ride, the friendship on the way, when met by our Belgian friends and seeing the wonderful continuing support for this appeal from you. Thank you!

Aleks says – “I last cycled to Gent over 35 years ago and, not having ridden far or very often in recent years, I realised I needed a bit of practice, as did my equally ancient bike, if I was to repeat the ride.

"As cycling from St Mary’s Lewisham to Sint Pieter’s after all this time is a challenge for me..especially the hilly section to Dover.. I've chosen to cycle from St Mary’s a day early (on 4 July, UK Election day). We'll all meet on the ferry from Dover and then continue to St Pieter's.

"I am looking forward to riding and raising funds especially as I am also one of St Mary’s band of bell ringers. We want to make St Mary's bells fit to ring in future."
