Story
Hi! My name is Alefiyah and I'm fundraising for the Alzheimer's Society which support, research and campaign to raise awareness for dementia!
I'm doing two main fundraising activities:
I'm joining a team from EDF that will be climbing Mount Snowdon on Saturday 17th August.. at night! We start climbing at 11pm and will hopefully return down by 6am!
As you may or may not know, I'm a mountain lover and this is the type of activity that makes my heart soar! Here are some pictures from hikes I've undertaken in the past year:
Secondly, together with my family, we are hosting a cultural Supper Club traditional meal on Saturday 10th August serving delicious Indian Gujarati food with an East African twist coming from my rich cultural heritage. The food will be served on a thaal (imagine the more commonly found Indian thali for one person... supersized, around which upto 8 people can sit!). The advert for this event is below - contact me if you'll be in London on this night and are interested in attending!
Whether or not you're able to attend the supperclub or to live vicariously through me on this night hike , I would be grateful if you can support me and Alzheimer's Society by donating to this fundraiser!
I'll also take this opportunity to leave a quick recommendation about the fantastic book Keep Sharp by Sanjay Gupta which talks all about prevention and slowing down of the symptoms and living better with dementia once it has already started its ravaging path.
Finally, know also that my company, EDF, which has been the vehicle and motivator behind my fundraising activities, has committed to raising a whopping £300,000 through employee fundraising to support Alzheimer’s Society services and their ground-breaking dementia research.
Together we are help and hope for everyone living with dementia.
