Story
We have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support East Yorkshire as our charity partner this year and the team will be raising money throughout the year to help raise funds for what is a charity close to the team's hearts.
We are hosting our own triathlon in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics to support our Macmillan Fundraising.
Our team will be raising essential funds throughout this event, starting with a 284-mile cycling journey to Dover in our local Driffield gym. Next, we will swim the equivalent of the English Channel with 1,352 lengths in a 25-meter pool. Finally, we will either walk or run the 181 miles from Calais to Paris, all before the Opening Ceremony.
It’s going to be an active summer at Aldgate, and we’d love to have your support!
Many of us have been affected by the disease in some way, either first–hand or through a loved one, and sadly last year we lost a long-standing and highly thought-of client to cancer, and as such, we would like to raise money on the memory of Mike Falkingham.
Mike was well known in the community; respected and held in high regard by all the Aldgate team, from the vets working alongside him on the farm to our client care team when he was collecting medicines. He had an infectious enthusiasm for life and bought happiness to those around him. One of life’s good people, when we raise money this year, we will be doing it for Mike.
The whole team is committed to raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. It costs £29 for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. If we reach and exceed our target of £3000, we’ll be able to fund many hours for these vital nurses.
All donations to be restricted to the East Riding Committee Funds.
