Story
Hi everyone!
Meet Alba, she's just turned 9 and since March 2021 has been on a mission to raise awareness for mental health and charities supporting it. If you know anything of Alba you'll know her reasons but for those that don't, she's doing it for her daddy and those just like him. You see from 3 months old Alba was visiting him in psychiatric hospitals whilst he did all he could to get well enough to be home. They did bedtimes via facetime, supervised visits and Christmas in family rooms on the wards of big hospitals. However, that is her hero. And she wants to do all she can to change the way people see and talk about mental health.
She's walked 100s of miles, 100s of 1000s of steps, she's walked from Castleford to Scarborough and so much in such a short amount of time raising so much awareness and money for lots of charities.
This year she wants to complete the England Coast Path! She walked from Redcar down to Spurn Point over a week in September for her 10th fundraiser. When looking at what she could do this year she came across the rest of the English coastal paths and that is where the planning began.
In January she walked from Amble to Redcar. February saw her walk from Amble to Berwick but she contracted scarlet fever before reaching the border or Holy Island so we'll be back to do a day hike shortly. In March she covered Withernsea to Hunstanton over 13 days which she finished just over a week ago.
10 days in May saw her cover Little Neston to Grange-over-Sands and just yesterday (27th June) after 9 days she made it to Gretna and completed the Northwest Coast!
By this fundraising she'll have covered Berwick to Harwich and Chester to Gretna!
This fundraiser is for the July Section back in Harwich and moving south as far as the Isle of Sheppey!
She'll be rocking her yellow croc wellies, bright odd socks and huge smile. You may spot her running, dancing, singing, making sandcastles and will happily wave and chat to anyone on route.
You can read all about her on the below page and website, give her a follow to follow her journey.
