On the 18th October 2024, Overbury will be leading a team of colleagues and clients to the beautiful Mountains and Wainrights of the Lake District and will be tackling the infamous Skiddaw 7. This trek consists of 7 peaks including Ullock Pike, Long Side, Carl Side, Skiddaw, Skiddaw Little Man, Lonscale Fell and Latrigg – 4,100ft of ascent over 14 miles with an anticipated finish time between 7 & 9 hours.
This has become an annual event following the success our our Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge last year which raised over £9000 for The Brain Tumour Charity and we hope to exceed this target with our chosen charity this time for ‘Step with Kyra’. Kyra is an energetic and bright 13-year-old daughter of one of our close colleagues and loves to dance, read and draw. She was born with a rare birth defect called PFFD, which means she was born with one leg much shorter than the other.
The NHS recommend amputation.
However, an alternative was found in Dr Paley, the world expert in PFFD. After tireless fundraising, Kyra has now had a number of life-changing corrective surgeries. She is nearing the end of her treatment and our walk will help towards the £90,000 needed for what will be her last operation to allow her to finally walk with her own two feet on the ground without a prosthetic.
Please help Just4Children raise to change Kyras life so her dream of walking with both feet on the ground can become a reality #StepWithKyra
